It started with an eight-minute standing ovation after Joker's Venice International Film Festival premiere over the weekend, and now Joaquin Phoenix received a standing ovation Last night in Toronto for his performance.
Is this movie going to be too good? Let me explain...
A weird question but warranted! If the snobby film festivals are loving this movie, and the critics we all hate (because they seem out of touch with the common man) can't stop gushing....do we have a pretentious and artsy mess on our hands?
Is this what we wanted with our superheros and super villains? Do we want them resembling Roma? My fear is that Hollywood has gone too far and instead of a getting a fun anti-hero movie like Venom, are we're getting The Pianist meets Pennywise?

I'm all about a Heath Ledger type performance, but if there's one thing I can't stand, it's when a movie is so artsy, it loses touch with reality. Keep your fucking caviar off my Five Guys burger!
